Laker Luv

They say pictures are worth a thousand words and by looking at the pictures on this page, every word says this team has earned themselves all the respect one team can during a moment of celebration and joy, at least for now

Truth be told, it doesn’t matter how many banners the Lakers lift, they will forever fall behind some team in the east whose star player or players lack the heart, the mental toughness, and loyalty associated with winners and champions, there is a difference.

A player can be a winner without winning a championship, ask Ewing, Barkley, or even Baylor along with many others who fought and battled some of the toughest and stiffest competition the league has ever seen.

This past season revealed the real NBA led by a clueless commissioner who has put so much effort and energy into helping a player build his own brand in place of the League.

Now we all are witness to what happens when an ego is encouraged from high school on. But and I do mean BUT…the truth, the realness of a player, of a TEAM can never be overshadowed by the way the League has tried to do the past two seasons or more to the Lakers. How disappointed the Commish must have been when he was trying so hard to have the ultimate finals matchup between Kobe and James.

But I’m guessing the memo was not lost in translation from the New York office to James’ Cleveland office because the League did all they could, but James kept falling flat on his face. That’s usually what happens when you send a boy to do a man’s job. What happens when that boy fails? He tends to blame his father for giving him too much to do. Either way, the big brother had to clean up the mess for the last two years and all he gets is ONE MVP award to show their gratitude in three years?

Since Kobe came into the League, all he did was get better year after year, never taking this game for granted and never putting himself before the game. If that HAD happened, he would have disrespected his forefathers of this beautiful game who played before him. Instead, he takes the crap journalists write about him, plays through ESPN HATERS like Skip Bayless, who says “his teammates don’t like him” and even in-house haters like Magic Johnson who flips more times than Ben Bernake during the season. Magic is on whoever side is winning and during the last two seasons Cleveland was his wagon of choice. But he was quick to claim his prize when the Lakers were the last team standing, once again.

All in all, it takes a strong TEAM to withstand a long and tenacious season of ups and downs, mood swings and haters to hold up the Larry O’Brien trophy at the end of the season while the NBA’s poster child is scheming ways to steal their shine.

The Three Shameless Men

Where to begin, well after celebrating another Laker championship from the comforts of my sofa, I knew as the clock ticked away it wouldn’t be long till I heard or read something about Queen James and his bitterness of losing yet again in the playoffs. It’s been a pattern since Orlando sent the Queen and his roleless crew packing it up in ’09 and then again with Boston in 2010.

There’s enough blame to go around and it starts with the Commish of the League. Yes, David Stern! From the moment the Queen was drafted the Commish was the first to bow down to him. From putting on James’ jacket on draft night, to keeping the nipple in his mouth seven years later, everything James is, was fed by the Commish and his goons. Now we have a player who believes he is larger than the League itself. A self-made king who couldn’t conquer the throne alone.

So now we have the Three Shameless Men, two of whom have only won a championship on the high school level at best. Trying to put together a dynasty with another round of role players to follow a powerless power-forward, a Queen with an empty jewelry box, and Wade County. Enough said. Headed by a man with an ego as big as the knife he used to rip the heart out of Cleveland. How will they mesh? How will egos be contained? How will rules be followed and implemented?

Has anyone bothered to talk to Shaq about his lone season in Cleveland? YOU ALL constantly hounded Shaq and Kobe about their beef, but fell on deaf ear concerning YOUR beloved James. For a guy with an outgoing persona, Shaq stayed quiet while the Queen ran the show. What happened to the LeBron and Shaq duel? Know this, Kobe, Shaq, and even Wade have one thing in common and it starts with a “C” and it’s not Cleveland.
